| I know this is not Z related but if admins would please leave up for a while. I'm in a bit of a time crunch and I don't know a better group of people on this planet. On May 28th, I will be going to jail for a good cause. I recently received a call from the local Muscular Dystrophy Association asking if I would participate in a charity fundraiser that they hold each year. The event involves a real police officer coming to your office and arresting you and taking you to the “local jail” to raise bail for MDA and ALS. Admittedly, I thought for second on how I could get out this…what excuse could I come up with…do I just say no I’m too busy and go on about my day. Then it hit me…my wife and I are expecting our second child due in June. Our first child is perfect (well most of the time), she’s healthy, beautiful and the best thing that has ever happened in our lives. We recently found out that our second child Camille will be born with a cleft lip and pallet. At first we cried and were upset…our little girl was not going to be perfect. We soon came to the realization that a cleft lip and pallet is not the end of the world…it can all be fixed relatively easily. What hit me was how blessed we actually were. As a parent all you really want is for your child to be healthy and many parents are not as fortunate as my wife and I have been or perhaps as you have been. I can not even begin to imagine what these parents and children with MD go through on a daily basis. My life and perhaps your life are easy, for those with MD it is not. I could have easily blown off the call from MDA and gone on about my life…. but this time something was different, having realized the blessings I have in my life I chose to try and help others who face obstacles that must surely seem insurmountable.
